Josh's Coaching Update 

Josh's golf is progressing nicely during the offseason, so much so that he has reduced his handicapfrom 15 to 13.9. Since starting hislessons here at the Academy just over a monthago, Josh has put lots of hard work into hisswing, both on the course and on the drivingrange. He has a great attitude, which is key forimprovement. 

"You only get out what you put in!"

Lesson 4 

This week's lesson was a recap of Josh's set upand swing thoughts, which has been the mainfocus of the last three sessions. To ensureJosh's improvement continues, we decided to do amonitored practise session. 

After stretching, Josh begins his practise likemost good players do and started with theshorter wedges. 15-20 wedge shots towardsdifferent 50 yard targets, this lets Josh gethis eye in. Here at the Academy our green netsin front of the bays are perfect for these warmup pitch shots. 

Josh then changes clubs, moving up towards themid to longer irons, changing his targetregularly. 

A great way to make your practise moreinteresting is to imagine you are playing thefirst 3 holes of your local course. Practisingin this manor, ensures that Josh is practisingwith purpose. 

We also continued work on his goodposture during the downswing, whichJosh has worked on since October. Maintaining agood posture, means Josh won't return to badhabits of early extension which occurs when thespine angle raises and the hips push towards theball on the dowsing. Early extension was themain reason Josh was making lots of miss hitsand finding he was off balance through hisswing.

Josh is playing this weekend at SouthWinchester Golf Club, so let's hopehe can continue his good form.
