Danny the champion of the world
Unlessyou've just returned from a trekking adventurein the Andes, you'll know by now that we have anew Masters champion - and a British one… atlong last. A massive congratulations to DannyWillett on an incredible victory, thanks for ending 20 years of hurt.
When Nick Faldo chased downGreg Norman in 1996, sports fans, not just golffans, sympathised with the Australian, whofaltered on Sunday to gift Faldo victory. Themanner of Jordan Spieth's Sunday meltdown wasn'tquite the same, but a few poor swings did thedamage. The consolation for the American is thathe already has a Green Jacket, although heprobably won't see it this way right now.
Willett showed immense nerve to capitalisefollowing Spieth's Amen Corner disaster, thisshould not be forgotten. If Spieth has the bestputting stroke in the world, Willett can't befar behind, and his composure under the severestof pressure was beyond impressive.
There are so many fantastic stories surroundinghis first Major win, one of those being thathe's just become a father. For all of us, it'stremendous to have a British Masters championonce again.
Roll on the next one.
