It's the Big One
Yes there are four Majors but everyone knows the Open is the best and the one they all really want to win! This year Royal Troon is playing host and if you fancy a flutter or would like to follow with a keener interest then we recommend you read Gary's blog for his top tips for the week of golf ahead.
This week is the best week of the year for golfers across the land. The biggest golf tournament of the year comes to Royal Troon and the top golfers from across the globe come to compete for the famous Claret Jug.
Previous champions include Phil Mickleson, Todd Hamilton, Stewart Cink, Ben Curtis, David Duval and Justin Leonard, who have all won within the last 20 years.
You may notice that I have only listed Americans who have won the Claret Jug, that is because it is difficult not to look past our friends across the pond, who have come over to win this event 13 out of the last 20 times its been held.
As much as it pains me, being a keen supporter of the European Tour, I have selected another 3 Americans to lift the trophy on Sunday.
Patrick Reed 55/1
JB Holmes 125/1
Charley Hoffman 200/1
Enjoy the show and don't forget we are showing live coverage here at Winchester Golf Academy on SKY TV.
Health and Safety is a serious business and that's why on Monday the Academy and Bistro staff joined forces to get First Aid trained with the lovely Pat.
The course was not only very informative but a lot of fun and means that whenever you visit the range you can have peace of mind that a qualified First Aider is always on site.
