Callaway Demo Day Coming Soon…

We’re excited to be hosting the next Callaway Custom Fitting Day on Thursday 11th October 2018 from 3pm to 7pm. We’ll have the latest new Rogue product range as well as the Odyssey range of putters.

Sociable, fun golf every month with the Society!

We are still open for bookings for our first Society Day of the season at the wonderful chalk based Weybrook Park Golf Course near Basingstoke on 12th October.

Our Winchester Golf Society is just £25 for the year, and this gives you reduced green fees at seven courses during the Winter and Spring months. It’s a relaxed and sociable way to try different courses. You’ll also receive a branded top-quality Abacus Golf Technical Playing shirt ready to wear for the first game.

Society days start with a bacon roll and a coffee at 10am with tee times from 11am. And afterwards, there’s a two-course meal back at the Little Kitchen Bistro. Join us if you can or if you’re interested to know a little more about the Society call 01962 885254.

Improve your distance and accuracy at our Ladies Golf Clinic

Our ever-popular ladies golf clinic is happening again on Sunday 7th October from 1pm to 4pm.

New irons to improve your game

Buying a set of clubs is exciting, but can be a tricky decision - you might love the look of the short irons, but feel a bit daunted by the longer clubs further up the set. However, you can always mix and match your clubs so that your long irons are more forgiving and your short irons are more workable, allowing you to strike approach shots from any distance with confidence.

It's all about the landing zone

When you’re faced with a chip shot, visualisation is key but often overlooked. In order to judge your chip accurately, you need to be able to picture where you want the ball to land and how much it will roll out from this point. Being able to achieve this requires a lot of practice, but you'll soon see your touch around the greens improving.

Landing Zone Drill
Here’s a simple way of helping you land your chips exactly where you want to every time. The next time you’re at the practice green, take a folded towel and place it at the spot you want your ball to land. Then, when you hit your chips, try and make the ball land on the towel. To ramp up the difficulty, try reducing the size of the towel.

This drill will improve your touch and mean that the next time you visualise your chip shots, you’ll be confident you can execute them to perfection.

Another thing to try is moving the towel (i.e. landing spot) closer and further away from you so you get an idea of how far each club rolls out.
