A new face at Winchester Golf Academy…
We’re delighted to welcome a new member of our coaching team - Ben Wall!
Ben started playing golf when he was 13 years old at Hayling Island Golf Club, and quickly went on to represent Hampshire in the Colts’ and Men’s Categories. He’s won 12 professional titles, reached the top 300 amateur rankings in the world in July 2015, and has a current handicap of +4. If that’s not impressive enough, he’s hit SIX hole in ones, including two on a par 4, one of which was the 8th at Hayling Island – 360yds!

|
Ben’s favourite course is Carnoustie, his favourite player is Tiger Woods and two of his favourite clubs in the bag are his TaylorMade Spider X putter and trusted TaylorMade 3-wood.
With a coaching ethos based on practical, performance based lessons to ensure that the work done on the range is taken to the course, Ben’s ProAgenda diary is now open and can be accessed here.
You’ll find Ben in the coaching bays and Golf Shop so please come in and say hello next time you’re visiting.

Ladies @ Leckford…
We have two dates in the diary when we’ve booked some tee times at Leckford for our ladies who have asked about getting onto the course as a society group. This will not be a coached session, but we will meet and greet at the clubhouse and first tee.
Friday 31st May ~ Friday 7th June.
If you are interested in joining us for either or both dates, we are now taking bookings and payment so please give us a ring on 01962 885254.

Save the date… Sunday 30th June 2019
We are very excited to announce that Winchester Golf Academy is supporting Winchester Hospice’s fundraising campaign with an Open Day at the Academy on Sunday 30 June 2019.
Winchester Hospice will provide a much-needed local hospice facility to provide care and support to patients with life limiting illnesses, and their families. With the history and heart of Winchester Golf Academy firmly rooted in Winchester and its surrounding areas, we are delighted to be able to open our doors and hold an event to help a fantastic fundraising cause.
|
|
We’ll have plenty going on during the day, including FREE giveaways and taster sessions, so be sure to watch this space and follow us on Facebook @winchestergolfacademy as we share more Open Day details over the next few weeks.

Most overlooked club in the bag? |
Thankfully, the penny has dropped when it comes to the importance of getting custom fitted for a new driver or set of irons. Unfortunately, we still see the vast majority of golfers overlook this process when it comes to their fairway woods, but why? |
| How often do you use yours? |
|
“I wouldn’t use it often enough” “It's too expensive” “It's not necessary” Yeah, I guess if you’re not concerned with shooting lower scores and maximising your potential then a custom fitted fairway wood isn’t that important. However, if improving your game is something you want to achieve, then having a full set of custom fitted clubs is vital, especially when it comes to gapping between your driver and irons.

PING G410 fairway woods One option that we'll certainly get you to try is this beauty from PING. A combination of its tungsten weight, forged face and low centre of gravity produce a fairway wood that is easy to launch and that flies miles, too.
So, let’s get you booked in for a custom fitting with a member of the team and harness your potential with the most overlooked club in the bag. |
