WA: How important was the event to showcase ladies golf? G: This event was fantastic for women’s golf. The amount of publicity the whole series got was huge, most people knew it was happening and were all very supportive and keen to know how the event works. Players were buzzing about the days and “Thursdays were our new favourite day!” As it was every Thursday, a lot of people could follow the events and do. Justin and Kate did an amazing job of promoting the series in the media.
WA: How did you enjoy the experience of playing alongside some of the biggest names in golf? G: The experience was amazing! Each week I got less and less nervous (although the nerves never went) and became more used to seeing these big players next to me. The first week at Brokenhurst was the crazy one, where Dame Laura Davis walked straight passed me in the car park when I got out of my car and I just stopped what I was doing as I couldn’t quite believe it!
WA: How much has the series helped you develop as a player? G: The series has helped me as a player immensely. It has helped me realise that score isn’t everything- the number at the end of the day doesn’t always reflect on the conditions, how the course was set up or even how you played. Putting yourself under that amount of pressure will always adjust the score and that’s something that I felt I learned to deal with better as the series went on!
WA: What’s next on the competition calendar for you? G: Next on the competition list is the Hampshire masters and possibly a few WPGA events. There isn’t much left for the rest of the year so much more practice and also playing too.
