New beginners' sessions

Now it may seem a little deep to be using a quote from one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, but Pablo is not wrong. It’s good for people to try new things. From the outside, learning golf can often be seen as inaccessible and difficult to learn but that couldn’t be further from the truth here at WGA.

Check out our new beginners’ sessions in the attached image. Many golfers have started their golfing journey with us and have gone on to enjoy social golf or compete in their club’s monthly medals.

You have to be in it to win it…

Tots golf is back

If you have a little person(s) in your life that wants to have a go at golf or you would like to introduce them to it, Tots Golf is the session!

Tiger and Rory both started their golfing adventure at two-years-old, so it really is never too young to get going. For safety reasons, we start our Tots Golf at three.

The children can expect to learn how to hold the club, stand and do a basic swing and hit, learning through fun games and activities.

Georgie and Charlotte will be hosting the sessions throughout November. Spaces are limited and need to be booked through the shop by calling us on 01962 885254.

New menu, new delights

Those of you that follow us or the kitchen@ on Instagram, may have already spotted the sneak peek of the upcoming menu.

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have even spotted a new and exciting addition to the drinks section.

Some cynics (or golfers having a bad round) often say ‘Golf is a good walk spoiled’. In our opinion, golf only makes that walk better! Either way, if the walk must be spoiled then it should be by errant tee shots and three-putts, not by uncomfortable shoes.

Bounce made simple

You’ll often hear golf commentators say “the bounce is your friend” but what is ‘bounce’ on a wedge? Well, it refers to the angle of the leading edge and plays an important role in how your wedge interacts with the turf through impact.

As the image shows above, the higher the wedge bounce the more the leading edge is off the ground and pointing upwards.

But how does this help you? Well, having the correct bounce for the course conditions and your swing type will offer additional forgiveness and promote a better strike, which is something that we can talk you through more in-store.

One thing we will say is that getting the correct bounce - as well as grind and loft - on any new wedges is really important.
